A Happier Healthier You

M A S S A G E

Massage Therapy has long been recognised as an effective means of pain and stress relief.

During pregnancy, the benefits of massage are enhanced – relaxing the Mother and:

  • reducing the flow of stress hormones to the baby;

  • nourishing the baby by increasing the blood flow; and

  • relieving any stress and/or pain in the lower back and pelvic area of the mother, will make for an easier labour, quicker recovery and lessen the chances of postpartum depression.

Most women find that they sleep much better after a massage and are able to move with greater ease and comfort.

Experienced therapists choose techniques that are safe and effective for pregnant women.

Pregnancy Massage offers a wide range of benefits, which include the following:

  • eases backache, headaches, shoulder and neck aches that may be caused by muscle tension and shifts in posture to accommodate increasing weight;

  • decreases pain in the pelvic/hip area;

  • increases circulation which can reduce leg cramps and carpal tunnel syndrome;

  • improves digestion and regularity of bowels;

  • reduces fatigue and sleep issues;

  • improves skin elasticity that can help reduce stretchmarks;

  • helps reduce swelling in such places as hands and feet;

  • can alleviate stress on weight-bearing joints, like the knees, which are impacted by the extra weight of a growing baby;

  • promotes relaxation and deep breathing, and;

  • helps stabilise hormone levels by lessening anxiety.

Taking time for yourself during pregnancy can be uplifting emotionally. The soothing essence of massage allows pregnant mums to unwind and feel calm, healthy, and comforted during a period of added physical and emotional stress.

Not all massage therapists have received training in pregnancy massage, and not all are comfortable working with pregnant women. Here at Newtown Natural Fertility we choose our therapists wisely to ensure you, and your baby’s safety.
